KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah yesterday celebrated the 2020 Teachers' Day by holding a video call with headmasters as well as representatives from the District Education Office and Parent-Teacher Associations around the Indera Mahkota area in Pahang.

"Among others, I have committed an allocation for online programme during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), assistance for poor students during the COVID-19 pandemic and cleaning/sanitisation of secondary schools set to reopen after the CMCO," he wrote on his Facebook page yesterday.

The Teachers' Day is celebrated on May 16 annually. However, this year it is celebrated differently as the country is still in the midst of tackling the pandemic.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in his special Teachers' Day message yesterday, had also encouraged teachers to hone their skills relating to online teaching and home-based learning.
