HULU LANGAT: The police have begun preparations to enforce the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in the villages of Batu 21 to Batu 24, Sungai Lui here as of midnight Monday (March 30) to April 13.

The decision was made following the 71 positive cases of COVID-19 from the students of Maahad Tahfiz An-Nabawiyyah in Batu 23 Sungai Lui.

The implementation of the EMCO in the area will involve nearly 4,000 people from about 700 homes to prevent the COVID-19 infection from spreading further.

Earlier today, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the EMCO involves seven villages, comprising two Orang Asli settlements and five Malay villages along Batu 21 to Batu 24, Sungai Lui.

The decision was made after taking into account the high number of COVID-19 positive cases involving Maahad Tahfiz AnNabawiyyah students at Batu 23, Sungai Lui.

As of March 30, all incoming and outgoing movement and business will not be allowed during the duration of the enhanced order. The police, the military and a few other uniformed units will be deployed to ensure the directives were obeyed.

Throughout the period, the residents will be provided with sufficient basic food through a channel from the Social Welfare Department.
