Woman drowns after falling into quarry pond in Johor

JOHOR BARU: A woman drowned after falling into a quarry pond in Kangkar Pulai near here on Tuesday (April 12).

Skudai Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Riduan Akhyar said they received an emergency call at 3.06pm.

“Eleven firefighters from the station were deployed to the scene led by senior officer II, Suraini Adnan,’’ he said in a statement.

Riduan said the victim is believed to have fallen into the pond from a 25-metre cliff.

He said the 25-year old victim was found a few metres away from the spot where she had fallen.

“The victim was pronounced dead by the paramedic team from the Health Ministry who was at the scene,’’ said Riduan.

He said a Fire and Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle, an Emergency Response Medical Services (EMRS) vehicle and a Hilux Utility Vehicle were used in the operations.

Riduan said the operations ended at 5.08pm and the body has been handed over to the police for further action.
