We need not vacate our seats, says GRS’ Armizan

KOTA KINABALU: Four Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) MPs need not vacate their seats after quitting Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Papar MP Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, when contacted, said all four of them received an email from the Dewan Rakyat Speaker addressed to Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee that was copied to them.

“I cannot release the content of the email, but all I can say is that there is no need for us to vacate our seats,” said the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department on Monday (Jan 16).

The other MPs are Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan (Batu Sapi), Datuk Matbali Musah (Sipitang) and Datuk Jonathan Yassin (Ranau).

On Dec 29 last year, Kiandee said Bersatu had sent a notice to the Dewan Rakyat about the vacancies of the four parliamentary seats occupied by its former leaders.

The four in their defence had said that they had become GRS direct members and contested as GRS candidates in the 15th General Election.

However, Bersatu had claimed they were members of Bersatu and were representing the party under GRS during GE15.
