Turkish Embassy asking its citizens in Malaysia to donate essential items

KUALA LUMPUR: The Turkish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has called on its citizens in Malaysia to send winter clothing, basic amenities and food aid following the devastating earthquake which hit the country recently.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page the Embassy called on those interested to send these items to the Yunus Emre Enstitüsü here.

“You can deliver your donations to the address of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Kuala Lumpur in Ampang, by packing them in an orderly manner and clearly writing the size/number of the aid material on the box (if possible, also in English).

“Materials within the scope of donations in kind (other than financial aid) must be unused and suitable for winter conditions,” it said.

It said the required items include winter clothing for adults and children such as coats, raincoats, boots, sweaters, trousers, gloves, scarfs, hats, socks and underwear.

Other materials required are tents, beds, mattresses, blankets, sleeping bags, tube catalytic stoves, heaters, thermos, flashlights, power banks and generators.

Food boxes should contain canned food, children’s food, while other items needed include diapers, cleaning and hygiene items as well as sanitary pads,” it said.

The embassy said cash donations could be made to the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Authority via www.afad.gov.tr/depremkampanyasi2.
