Suspect nabbed for filming teen in toilet

PETALING JAYA: A teenager and several security guards stopped a suspect from running away after he allegedly filmed her in the toilet.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, in a statement Tuesday (Jan 11), said the incident occurred on Jan 10 at Centre Point.

“The 14-year-old victim saw the suspect holding a phone from a window that was between the male and female toilets.

She then confronted the man, asking if he had filmed her, and he then tried to escape.

“She was pushed during the man’s escape but she managed to throw her phone at the suspect, hitting him. Security guards then came to restrain the suspect,” he said.

The police were then notified and a patrol team was sent to the scene to assess the situation.

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said the security guards handed over the suspect to the police at around 7.15pm.

“His clothes were torn when he was handed over to the police. The suspect confessed to the police and the handphone, with the recording intact, has been seized,” he said.
