Selangor state elections: Amirudin keen to return as MB for second term

SELANGOR Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic) is keen to helm the state for a second term.

State elections will be held this year.

When asked if he had any recommendation for a suitable successor, he said ‘Amirudin’, referring to himself, at the state Chinese New Year celebration in Taman Melawati on Feb 12.

When asked to comment about former Umno youth chief Khairi Jamaluddin’s claim on him being offered the Selangor Mentri Besar post by an undisclosed political party if he took part in the state polls, Amirudin said anyone interested in the position can offer themselves.

“However, in Malaysian politics, the post will be filled by a candidate from the dominant party and supported by the state assemblymen.

“Tan Sri Noh Omar(former Selangor Umno chief) may be interested too.

“Anyone who is interested in the position has a right to offer themselves,” he said.

Khairy and Noh were sacked from Umno last month.
