Second urine test was negative, DAP assemblyman wants further investigation

PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Pasir Bedamar assemblyman Terence Naidu, who was recently nabbed at a nightclub in Perai, Penang, has tested negative when he was screened for drugs the second time.

Naidu’s lawyer Ramkarpal Singh, said after the DAP assemblyman was released on bail on Jan 14, he went to “Klinik O2” in Penang on Jan 15 to be tested for drugs in his urine.

“He (Naidu) was unsatisfied with the first urine test done by the police which found drugs in his urine, and his repeated requests to the police to conduct a second test was not allowed.”

Ramkarpal, said the second drug screen was analysed at a Pathlab laboratory and it was concluded that no drug traces were found in his urine.

“The results were also acquired by Naidu on Wednesday (Jan 19),” said Ramkarpal.

Ramkarpal said Naidu had made a fresh police report following the negative results on his urine test and he was urging for further investigations on the matter.

“With this new development, it is clear that further investigations must be carried out by the police immediately to uphold justice and Terence is ready to provide cooperation.

“We hope further investigations can be carried out as soon as possible.”

Naidu was among the 48 people arrested by the police on Thursday (Jan 13) and tested positive for drugs along with 35 others.

Naidu was currently being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
