Sarawak Polls: Bersatu broke promise, says GPS’ Abang Jo

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is disappointed that there were four Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia members, including former Krian rep Datuk Ali Biju, who are contesting as Independents in the 12th Sarawak state election.

Its chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this was clearly against what Bersatu had promised to GPS.

“Of course I’m disappointed. There was an agreement that no Bersatu (members) will stand in this election,” he said during a press conference after launching GPS’ 34-point manifesto at the Borneo Convention Centre here on Wednesday (Dec 8).

Abang Johari said he would wait for Bersatu to take action against its members who went rogue.

Apart from Ali who is contesting in Krian, Bersatu’s Siki Balarik will be contesting in Belaha, Ricky Enteri in Bawang Assan and Ismawi Muhammad in Muara Tuang.

Siki is Hulu Rajang Bersatu chief while Ricky is a youth activist from Bawang Assan.

Ismawi is Kota Samarahan Bersatu division chief.
