Sabah cops on the hunt for suspects who tried to lure girl into their car

KOTA KINABALU: A community message warning parents and children to be aware of strangers especially when waiting for transport has been widely circulated on social media recently.

According to the message by Kg Inobong development and safety committee, this is due to a report received by a female student who alleged that she was approached by two unknown men while waiting for her school bus at around 10am on April 11.

The girl alleged that the men tried to lure her into their car but she turned, and fled home as she was afraid.

She had later informed her mother about the incident.

The alleged incident was said to have happened near Kg Pagansakan, Inobong in Penampang district.

Penampang OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said they have received a report on the matter and investigation papers have been opened.

“A probe is on to hunt the suspects, and to identify all elements with regards to the report,” he said in a statement Thursday (April 14).

He urged the public to not speculate on this case or to spread unverified information.
