PKR party polls: Youth activist Adam Adli to run for party youth chief

KLANG: The upcoming PKR party polls has gained momentum with young social activist Adam Adli Abd Halim (pic) joining in the fray.

Adam said in a tweet that he was offering himself as a candidate for the PKR Youth chief position.

“I humbly wish to confirm that I am offering myself as a Keadilan Youth chief candidate in the PKR election this time,” said the tweet.

He has teamed-up with lawyer Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim who would contest for the deputy chief’s post.

The duo said in a joint statement that they would be contesting under a collaboration named Seangkatan in the polls.

“A full team of three youth vice chief candidates and 20 executive council candidates, as well as the five Seangkatan trusts that will guide our campaign will be announced in another joint statement soon,” they said.

The duo said in the statement that the efforts were geared towards strengthening PKR in preparation for the upcoming 15th general election.

They added the youth division was the frontline in PKR and hence had to be prepared to be strong, brave, progressive and fresh.

These qualities as well as a strong front was crucial for the reformasi battle in the next general election, said the statement.

“To achieve this the young, old and new talent must be given the responsibility of leading the party’s youth movement,” he said.

Adam Adli’s team will be going against Penang PKR youth chief Fahmi Zainol, who was also vying for the top post, and his team composed of Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat as well as Malacca youth chief Prasant Kumar Brakasam.
