National unity programmes the focus during Dr Wee-Halimah meeting

PETALING JAYA: National unity programmes and other related issues were on the agenda when MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong met National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique in Johor Baru recently.

“For almost two hours, we discussed the development of new villages, the affairs of non-Muslim houses of worship and the national unity program,” Dr Wee, who is also Transport Minister and Ayer Hitam MP, wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday evening (April 2).

Before the discussion, Dr Wee and Halimah visited Kedai Makanan Jadi Baru Botak or better known as JB Botak Asam Fish in Jalan Lumba Kuda for lunch.

They were accompanied by Paloh assemblyman Lee Ting Han, who is also Johor trade investment and consumer affairs committee chief.

Dr Wee said that the store, which sells asam pedas, a dish famous in Johor Bahru, was full of customers including some from Singapore.

“The shop manager known as Botak said it has been almost eight years since Halimah visited this shop.

“According to Botak, when Halimah was part of the Johor exco, she always had lunch at his shop together with other exco members after meetings on Wednesday,” said Dr Wee.
