More human bones found at quarry rockfall site, says Perak police

IPOH: More pieces of human bones, believed to be that of the second victim in the rockslide incident at a quarry in Keramat Pulai in March, have been found, says Comm Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said the search and rescue operation at 5.20pm on Thursday (Sept 22) also successfully dug out the excavator that was believed to have been operated by the second victim.

“We also found more pieces of clothes, believed to belong to the second victim.

“The remains have been sent to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun forensics unit for post-mortem and DNA test to determine the identity,” he said in a statement.

“With the findings of both excavators, pieces of clothes and remains, believed to be of the two victims that were reportedly buried under the rubble of rocks during the rockslide incident on March 8, the search and rescue operation was ended at 6pm,” he added.

Comm Mohd Yusri also thanked those who have helped with the operation, including the Fire and Rescue Department, Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team, Land and Mines Department, Public Works Department, Universiti Teknologi Perak, the quarry operator and the Mineral and Geoscience Department.

Bone fragments, believed to be of the second victim, were found on Wednesday.

This was after two excavators and the skeletal remains of the first victim were found on Tuesday.

In the incident, two quarry workers, identified as Itam Lasoh, 43, and Kheow Loo Siew Soon, 49, were buried under a pile of rocks.
