MCA must double efforts to win more seats for BN in GE15

PETALING JAYA: To ensure better performance in the 15th General Election, MCA leaders and grassroots must not be too complacent with Barisan Nasional’s victory in the Johor polls last March, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“I’m asking MCA leaders and grassroots members to work hard for the coming GE15.

“Barisan and MCA’s success in the previous Johor polls last March have raised our morale and spirits.

“Therefore, we must not be too complacent with this situation,” said the MCA president in a Facebook post on Saturday (June 11).

Dr Wee said this was the message given to MCA grassroots and leaders as he officiated at the delegates meeting of the party’s three divisions – Johor Baru, Sembrong and Labis – on Saturday.

He said MCA must double its efforts if it wants to ensure Barisan wins more seats in GE15.

Dr Wee also stressed the importance of unity and solidarity within Barisan and its component parties to take on the Opposition in GE15.

In the Johor state election last March, Barisan obtained a two-thirds majority after winning 40 out of 56 seats.

MCA won four out of the 15 seats it contested.
