Malaysia to boost ties with international aviation groups, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian government is looking forward to strengthening its working relations with numerous international aviation organisations, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Dr Wee said this would be achieved through mutual cooperation and training exchange after meeting the representatives of these groups at the opening ceremony and plenary session of the 24th Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC).

“I was able to meet with representatives of various regional aviation commissions to garner their support for Malaysia’s re-election to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council this year.

“We look forward to strengthening our working relationships with these regional groups,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (March 24).

Dr Wee added that the African Civil Aviation Commission (CAFAC) with 54 member states, the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) with 45 member states and the Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) with 22 members will meet at a later time with Malaysia for further discussion on the matter.

Malaysia will also engage these regional groupings for their support as well as to help implement ICAO initiatives for safer and more sustainable aviation, he said.
