MACC detains company owner for allegedly making RM100,000 in false claims

JOHOR BARU: A 53-year-old man has been detained by the Batu Pahat Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly making false claims of RM100,000.

The man, who owns a printing company, was detained at the Johor Baru MACC office at 5pm on Tuesday (Jan 10) after giving his statement.

It is learned that the suspect made a false claim in 2021 to a secondary school in the state involving for the supply of a learning module for students even though the job was not done.

Meanwhile, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest and said that the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for providing documents that are false or contain false details with the intention of deceiving.

The suspect will be brought to the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court at 9am on Wednesday, (Jan 11) for a remand application.
