Kelantan cops collect RM1.4mil in summonses payments within three days

KOTA BARU: Kelantan police have collected RM1.4mil in summonses payments during the last three days following the 80% discount offered in conjunction with the 100-Day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia programme from Dec 9 till 12.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said the payments were for 26,618 Pol 170A summonses and 31,163 Pol 257 summonses.

He said that 121,606 summonses worth RM321,010 were issued in 2021, with 37,512 summonses paid, adding that 84,094 summonses were still outstanding.

“Since 2017, Kelantan police have issued 718,680 summonses for various offences worth RM3.24mil.

“A total of 318,251 summonses were paid during that period, with 400,429 summonses still outstanding,” he told reporters after checking on the traffic summonses payment counter at the Kota Baru district police headquarters here.

He said the Kelantan police were looking into other methods to ensure that the large number of outstanding summonses would be settled.

He added that the most common offences for which summonses were issued were driving over the speed limit, driving without a valid licence or expired licence or not carrying a driving licence. – Bernama
