Hishammuddin: I don’t have the heart to appeal against six-year suspension from Umno

PETALING JAYA: Former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has reiterated that he will not appeal his six-year suspension from the party

The former defence minister said he was in the dark over the reason for his suspension that he claimed did not follow procedures.

“I was suspended without following procedures. I was not called to face the disciplinary board. No letter was issued by the disciplinary board. At least ask me to provide a written response,” he said in a TikTok video.

“Why should I appeal to the person who decided to suspend me? Should (we) appeal to the person who suspended us?”

The Sembrong MP also said that appealing the decision is akin to being in the wrong.

“I don’t have the heart to appeal,” he added.

Hishammuddin was suspended for six years in a decision made by the Umno supreme council on Jan 27.

Apart from Hishammuddin, former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan, former youth exco member Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, former Johor state exco member and Tebrau Umno division chief Datuk Maulizan Bujang and former Jempol MP Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Shariff were also suspended for six years.

Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and supreme council member Tan Sri Noh Omar were given the boot.
