Hajiji to continue leading Sabah, says Anwar

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his blessings to embattled Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to continue leading the state.

He said “yes” when asked if he gave his blessings to Hajiji to continue being the Chief Minister.

“Yes, I’m giving him the blessings, he is the Chief Minister.

“We give space to the CM to discuss and find a good formula for the benefit of Sabah,” Anwar added.

The Prime Minister said this after spending about 40 minutes at the chief minister’s official residence here.

Also present were the 44 assemblymen including from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Pakatan Harapan (seven) and five Sabah Umno dissidents.

“Thank you to CM Hajiji and friends who listen to all views, because we want a strong Sabah under the leadership of Hajiji,” he added.

Anwar said Tuesday’s (Jan 10) tabling of an important Bill at the state assembly to give back Sabah’s rights was his priority currently.

He said the Bill was proposed by himself at the federal Cabinet and this is a huge change for the state.

Earlier, Anwar said he and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will work out the best formula to end the Sabah political crisis.

The Prime Minister said they will look at the best formula and will leave it to the warring state political leaders to decide.
