PONTIAN: Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng has thanked the people for their support in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The former deputy plantation industries and commodities minister said that the people in Tanjung Piai have continued their support for him for another term in the constituency.
“I would like to take this chance to say thank you to all of the voters in Tanjung Piai for supporting me,” he said in a video posted on his Facebook page on Sunday (Nov 20).
Wee, who was born and bred in Tanjung Piai, had won in a three-cornered fight against Malaysian United Democratic Alliance’s (Muda) Lim Wei Jiet and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s Najwah Halimah Ab Alim. They were both contesting for the first time in GE15.
The MCA candidate, who was contesting on a Barisan Nasional ticket, has held the MP post for three terms.
Wee received 23,593 votes to Lim’s 17,233 votes and Najwah Halimah’s 13,762 votes.
