GE15: Pakatan’s 22 months in power insufficient to fulfil GE14 pledges, says Loke

YONG PENG: With only 22 months in power, the Pakatan Harapan government was unable to fulfil its pledges in its GE14 manifesto, says Anthony Loke.

The DAP secretary-general said the toll for the North-South Expressway (NSE), for example, could be lowered further and eventually abolished should Pakatan be given a second chance to run the country again.

He said lowering toll charges was included in Pakatan’s GE15 manifesto because the coalition was unable to fulfil its pledges during its 22 months in power.

“We have not given up – this matter takes time and 22 months was not enough.

“It (lowering toll fares) has always been our aim so we had to include it in our GE15 manifesto as part of our commitment to address the cost of living in the country.

“I know some of the voters may be sceptical… but I am the type of person who does not like to only talk, but do,” he said at a Pakatan ceramah here on Tuesday (Nov 8).

He added that Pakatan managed to lower toll charges by 18%.

Loke also said the rakyat should give Pakatan five years to fulfil its pledges, which includes recognising the Unified Examination Certificate.
