GE15: Non-Muslims should not be scared of Perikatan just because of PAS, says Muar candidate Abdullah Husin

MUAR: Non-Muslims should not be scared of Perikatan Nasional just because PAS is part of its component party, says its Muar candidate Abdullah Husin.

The Johor PAS commissioner said that he is used to helping the affairs of non-Muslims when he was the Puteri Wangsa assemblyman for one term between 2013 and 2018.

“PAS has governed Kelantan for more than 30 years. We have provided protection, assistance to non-Muslims and ensured their respective religious freedom rights are not disturbed.

“In fact, one of the largest Buddha statue in Asia can be found at Tumpat in Kelantan,” he said in a Perikatan Nasional ceramah held at Parit Jawa here on Wednesday (Nov 16) night.

Abdullah is in a three-cornered fight for the Muar parliamentary seat in GE15 with Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who is the incumbent and Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Helmy Abd Latiff.

On Monday (Nov 14), Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming was reported to have warned voters not to support Perikatan because PAS is part of the coalition and it could lead to unfavourable policies being mooted by the Islamist party.

Nga pointed out that Malaysia could end up like Afghanistan with a Taliban government calling the shots if Perikatan were to win GE15.
