GE15: Don’t let history repeat itself, says Abang Jo

KUCHING: Sarawak wants a Federal Government that will work together with the state in implementing development projects, says Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The Sarawak Premier said the state did not want to repeat its “bad experience” during Pakatan Harapan’s 22 months in power.

“In the last general election, Pakatan promised a lot of things but none were fulfilled and even projects planned by the previous government were withdrawn.

“This is a lesson to Sarawakians. Don’t let history repeat itself,” he told reporters after launching Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) GE15 manifesto at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Sunday (Nov 6) night.

Abang Johari said although GPS was an independent state-based coalition, it also wanted a strong Federal Government.

“We need effective policies to improve the economy and make sure people have food on the table,” he said.

In his speech earlier, Abang Johari said the GPS manifesto would focus on inclusive development for all Sarawakians, from B40 and M40 groups to students, senior citizens, youths, women and children.

“The manifesto is our commitment to the people. When we make promises, we keep them,” he said.

Themed “Ensuring Sarawak’s Stability, Progress and Prosperity”, the manifesto is based on five pillars of stable and resilient politics; infrastructure development; economic transformation; human capital training; and efficient administration.
