GE15: Anwar reiterates he has the numbers to form govt

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that he has the required numbers to form a new government following GE15.

“As I have said, it is done, but we want it to be proper and let the relevant political parties issue their own statements.

“I am happy that we have virtually settled this, and there is an elaborate support and confidence that I will be given a chance to lead this country,” he said when met by reporters outside his residence in Sg Long.

“On the numbers, we have made the statements based on what we have achieved; we will do it accordingly by submitting based on the requirements (set by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong),” he added.

When asked whether Pakatan had met Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) on forming a pact, Anwar claimed GPS already established a tie-up with Barisan Nasional.

“Changes in the party, stability of the country, rejuvenating the economy are a joint task,” he added.

Earlier Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun said that all chiefs and secretaries-general of political parties that won a substantial number of seats in the 15th General Election have been asked to present a statutory declaration of the list of parties and names of MPs who have agreed to form a Federal Government with at least 112 seats.
