Gang leader among duo nabbed for extortion and robbery

KLANG: Two men, believed to be involved in extortion and robbery, have been arrested by police.

The men who were caught by Bukit Aman CID were also believed to have underworld ties with one of them being a gang leader.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Norsiah Mohd Saaduddin said police from the Bukit Aman CID Serious Crimes Unit (D9) with assistance from the Special Operations Unit (D8) arrested the two suspects while they were attempting to get into a pickup truck along Jalan Raja Musa, Port Klang on Wednesday (Sept 14).

“Police checked the vehicle and found a Colt Single Action Revolver hidden under the driver’s seat.

“They then went to the suspects house at Jalan Bendahara, Taman Mewah Ria, Klang and found a 9mm live bullet,” she said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 15).

She said further investigations revealed one of the suspects was a secret society leader for the San Sentosa Gang.

“The gang has their hands in extortion, robbery, vehicle theft, house break-ins and illegal cryptocurrency mining activities around Klang.

“Further checks revealed one of the suspects has a record for firearms and vehicle theft offences, and was wanted in connection with a firearms case in Petaling Jaya on April 17 this year,” she said, adding that police had prior to this, arrested members of the same gang on several occasions.

DCP Norsiah said on April 17 two men were arrested in Petaling Jaya and a pistol was seized while on June 15, one man was arrested at Taman Sentosa, Klang and a revolver was seized.

“We also seized a pistol and four live bullets after arresting a man in Butterworth on Tuesday (Sept 13).

“Our checks revealed none of the firearms have valid licences issued by the police,” she said, adding that early this year, the CID D9 Unit set up a special team to trace the movements of the group before taking them down.

She urged the public to contact the police if they have any information on illegal activities.
