Free KTM rides for disabled this weekend

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering free rides for people with disabilities (PwD) for two days in conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Saturday (Dec 3).

KTMB said the free rides on Saturday and Sunday (Dec 4) were for the KTM Commuter Klang Valley Sector and KTM Commuter Northern Sector.

“The free ride initiative for the PwD is being offered a second time after it received an encouraging response when introduced last year,” KTMB said in a statement Thursday (Dec 1).

The free ride offer is a sign of KTMB’s appreciation for the PwD using the KTM Commuter service, and being concerned for their welfare and comfort, as well as that of other passengers.

“Statistics show that in 2021, a total of 37,363 PwD used the KTM Commuter service, while as of October, statistics show an increase to 74,458 disabled passengers,” it said.

To enjoy the free rides, persons with disabilities and one accompanying passenger only need to present the official PwD card issued by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, as well as identity card at the KTM Commuter ticket counters.
