Four injured after SUV goes out of control, plunges down 30m ravine

IPOH: Four people were injured when the driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) lost control of the vehicle, which plunged into a 30m deep ravine near Sungai Siput.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the four were on their way down a steep hill after picnicking at Pos Kuala Mu when the driver failed to manoeuvre the SUV around a sharp bend, resulting in the accident at about 5.45pm on Sunday (Nov 27).

He said one man sustained injuries to his face and legs, another woman suffered breathing difficulties, while two teenage girls sustained light injuries.

“The vehicle crashed near a river. Those who sustained light injuries were treated at the site.

“The man, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, while the other three were taken to the hospital in a fire and rescue vehicle,” he added.
