Five nabbed for misappropriating subsidised diesel in Penang following raid

PETALING JAYA: Five men were arrested for misappropriating subsidised diesel in Penang, says the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

Its secretary-general Datuk Azman Adam said a raid by the ministry’s enforcers was conducted at a premises used to store and syphon diesel in Kampung Balik Bukit, Tasek, Penang on Monday (Feb 13).

“The enforcers found 22,000 litres of diesel, an oil tanker, two canvas-covered lorries, several tanks containing diesel and other equipment.

“The diesel, lorries, and some documents as well as equipment that were found at the premises have been seized for further investigation.

“The total value of the seizure is estimated at RM161,100,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 15).

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
