Body of missing Tuaran woman found after three-day search

KOTA KINABALU: The body of an elderly woman who went missing in Tuaran on Sunday (Feb 19) has been found on the third day of the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation.

Jinteh Sudin, 76, was found 600m from the rescue team control post and was confirmed dead by the police, said Fire and Rescue Department on Tuesday (Feb 21).

Previously, a report came in at 7.23pm on Sunday (Feb 19) alerting that the senior citizen had been separated from her family while foraging for cockles in a mangrove area in Kampung Betutai, Tuaran.

A search effort was mounted with the help of tracker dogs.

“The victim’s remains have been handed over to the police for further action, and the operation ended at 7.10pm,” said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.
