Beautiful, rare double rainbow radiates in Klang Valley

KUALA LUMPUR: A stunning double rainbow brightened up the city skyline on Thursday (April 7) evening after light showers.

This meteorological phenomenon came to light over the city skies following a downpour.

Some lucky viewers in Segambut and Old Klang Road, among other areas, were out and about to capture the picturesque scene.

The double rainbows are formed when sunlight is reflected twice within a raindrop with the violet light that reaches the observer’s eye coming from the higher raindrops and the red light from lower raindrops.

The phenomenon is actually relatively common, especially at times when the sun is low in the sky such as in the early morning or late afternoon.
