Zoom: Get The Latest Update Or Get Locked Out

Zoom has been making a lot of improvements following a relatively bad time in April. The video conferencing software has since released its version 5.0 update, and it wants everyone to get it.

In a blog post, Zoom says that everyone using the installed app will need the update to join meetings after 30 May. Those who don’t will have the app prompt you to do so. And until you do, you’ll have to join meetings via its web client on a browser instead. Mobile users who didn’t get the 5.0 update can still join, but will be restricted to audio only.

The reason Zoom wants all of its users on the latest 5.0 update is due to the new GCM encryption. This ensures that meetings and webinars are better protected. And there’s really no reason to not want a safer experience with video conference calls.

With the software’s high use rate in recent times, it’s no wonder that Zoom wants everyone to use a more secure version of it. And it’s a good way for the software to move away from all the bad rap it’s gotten last month. It’s even gotten a very unique, if not very pleasant, use case scenario to its name.
