OPPO Ace2 Smartphone Announced; Priced Approximately From RM2455

OPPO has announced the 5G-enabled Ace2 smartphone on 13 April 2020 in China. As you can probably tell, the company has dropped the “Reno” branding entirely for the successor to last year’s Ace smartphone.

The OPPO Ace2 is equipped with a 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED screen with 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch response rate, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G support, along with up to 12GB RAM and storage capacity of up to 256GB.

Other than that, the Ace2 packs a 4,000mAh battery with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging and 40W AirVOOC wireless charging support. The handset will come with the company’s ColorOS 7.1 with Android 10 out of the box. Just in case you’re wondering, the phone does not feature a headphone jack.

On its back is a circular camera island housing its quad-camera setup, which consists of a 48MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. The Ace2’s camera also features OPPO’s latest AI enhancement software, as well as high quality low-light performance. Additionally, the phone’s front display features a punch-hole cutout on its upper left, which houses a 16MP selfie camera.

The OPPO Ace2 will be released in China on 20 April, and is priced at CNY3,999 (~RM2,455) for the 8GB/128GB configuration, CNY4,399 (~RM2,699) for the 8GB/256GB, and CNY4,599 (~RM2,820) for the 12GB/256GB variant. The company has not announced any plans for a global release at this time.
