Sony Will Release PS Studios Exclusives To PC After A Year

If you’re a fan of Sony’s PS exclusive titles, you probably know that some of those major titles have made their way onto the PC platform already, albeit at a faucet-dripping pace. Fact is, some titles have an excruciating waiting period, and the Japanese tech giant has been tightlipped about how long a customer would have to wait before one title gets a console-to-PC port over, until now.

During an interview with the French YouTuber, Julien Chièze, Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios (PS Studios) explained that, moving forward, the studio plans on releasing its single-player titles to PC, at least a year after they’ve had their time on the console. However, titles that are online-based and provide in-game live services may get a simultaneous release on both PS and PC.

For the non-gamers out there, PS Studios is prominently known for producing exceptionally high quality titles, usually with a heavy focus and emphasis on story-telling and a ton of cinematics. To date, the titles that have already been ported to PC include Santa Monica Studio’s God of War and Insomniac Game’s Spider-Man; both titles first launched on Sony’s PS consoles back in 2018 and only arrived on the PC this year.

PS Studios will also be releasing Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4 and the stand-alone DLC, the Lost Legacy, as part of a bundle for PC this year as well. For another matter, the studio – now a Sony-owned subsidiary – mentioned last month that its other critically acclaimed title, The Last of Us Part 1, would be coming to PC “very soon”, which suggests that we could expect it to be ported over to PC, sometime in 2023. On that note, there’s also God of War: Ragnarok, which seems to be given at this point, considering how the 2018 smash hit is already available.

Given Hulst bare minimum 1-year exclusivity period for its games, it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination that the next potential console-to-PC portovers PS Studios could be porting over, sooner rather than later, will include the Guerilla Games’ Horizon: Forbidden West, and Sucker Punch’s highly lauded Ghost of Tsushima. Fingers crossed, we’ll see these titles become playable, either at the end of the year, or early 2023.
