Samsung Confirms July Unpacked Event Via Now-Deleted Blog Post

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked

Samsung has recently announced that it will hold its second Unpacked event of the year next month and, for the first time ever, at its home turf of South Korea. However, the official post confirming this that was shared on the company’s Australia website was taken down not long after it was published, but not before it was noticed by several international publications. As expected, Samsung did not say why the news update was removed, though we suspect that it may have been published earlier than initially planned.

According to the aforementioned publications, the now-deleted post specifically mentioned that the event will see the launch of its next generation Galaxy Z foldables, tentatively known as the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5. This is to be expected, as Samsung has been utilising its second Unpacked event to unveil its latest foldable smartphones ever since it officially discontinued its second flagship of the year, the Galaxy Note.

The news update added that the event will be held in South Korea’s capital, Seoul – more specifically at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam. And as mentioned earlier, this would mark the very first time for the company to hold a major launch at its home country, as these are often hosted in the United States previously – with the exception of 2020 and 2021, where Unpacked is done virtually due to COVID-19.

“The foldable category embodies Samsung’s philosophy of delivering breakthrough innovation that pushes boundaries to reshape the future of mobile experiences,” Samsung reportedly wrote in the post. “Hosting Unpacked in Seoul holds great significance both as it is a city that has become an emerging epicentre of innovation and culture as well as the foldable category.”

Though removed, the post confirmed prior rumours regarding the second Unpacked event’s venue, though its exact date is still shrouded in mystery. According to the publications, Samsung notes that the launch will take place at the end of July, which is not far off from the 26 July 2023 date that was suggested by unofficial sources. We’ve reached out to Samsung for clarification regarding this, and we will keep you posted for any further developments.
