POCO has just unveiled its newest smartphone lineup, the highly-anticipated POCO F5 series. This time around, we’re getting two phones, namely the vanilla POCO F5 as well as the more powerful F5 Pro, with both devices being upper mid-range offerings with relatively affordable price tags.
POCO F5 Pro
Let’s start with the higher end of the two, the F5 Pro. This phone sports a 6.67-inch 1440p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. If it looks familiar to you, it’s probably because it’s essentially just a rebadged Redmi K60 with a slightly smaller battery and, of course, Google Mobile Services (GMS).
The F5 Pro runs on last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It is powered by a 5,160mAh battery, smaller than the K60’s 5,500mAh capacity, and supports 67W wired charging as well as 30W wireless charging.
For photography, the Pro model features a 64MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. Up front, the phone houses a 16MP selfie shooter in a punch-hole cutout.
POCO F5
The base POCO F5 is another rebranded Xiaomi product, sharing the design and specs of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. Similar to its Pro counterpart, It is equipped with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, but the resolution has been toned down to 1080p.
The mid-ranger runs on one of Qualcomm’s newest SoCs, the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Powering the device is a standard 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging, but unlike the Pro, it isn’t capable of wireless charging.
Likewise, the POCO F5 also has a triple camera setup comprised of a 64MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro lens, along with a 16MP front sensor. Both devices ship with MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
The vanilla POCO F5, exclusively available on Shopee, starts from RM1,699 for the base 8GB+256GB and RM1,799 for the 12GB+256GB variant. For the F5 Pro, it can be purchased through the brand’s Lazada store and is priced at RM2,099 for 8GB+256GB, RM2,199 for 12GB+256GB, and RM2,399 for the maxed out 12GB+512GB model.
Xiaomi is also offering early bird discounts ranging from RM100 up to RM300, depending on the model and configuration, for the F5 series. These offers start today while stocks last.
