PlayStation Plus To Be Divided Into Three Tiers This June; Price Starts From RM29

Sony Interactive Entertainment will divide its PlayStation Plus into three tiers this coming June as the company has decided to combine both PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now into a single subscription service.

The existing PlayStation Plus subscription service will be renamed PlayStation Plus Essential although no changes will be made to it. This means subscribers will continue to receive two downloadable games per month, discounts, cloud storage for saved games, and online multiplayer.

Not only that, the PlayStation Plus Essential plan for Malaysia will continue to have the same price tag as per existing PlayStation Plus pricing. It starts at RM29 per month while there is also the option for a 3-month subscription at RM69 and RM159 for an annual subscription.

The next tier on the list is PlayStation Plus Extra which provides up to additional 400 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games, on top of the benefits from the Essential tier. Price-wise, the Extra tier costs RM44 monthly, RM114 quarterly, and RM269 yearly.

As for the PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier, it is priced at RM50 per month in Malaysia. For those who prefer the 3-month or annual payment option, this tier would cost them RM130 and RM309, respectively.

Under the Deluxe tier, gamers will receive all the benefits from the Essential and Extra tiers together with additional games from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP to download and play. Subscribers will also be able to access time-limited game trials which seem to be similar in nature to the 10-hour game trials on the EA Play service although SIE didn’t reveal the actual time limit in its announcement.

There is one more tier that is not being offered in Malaysia though called PlayStation Plus Premium. This is because Malaysia is not part of the official market for PlayStation Now cloud gaming service although it remains to be seen if SIE will bring the option to our market in the near future as the company has stated its commitment to expand its cloud streaming service to more markets.
