The new HONOR 80 series was officially unveiled in China earlier this evening, alongside the brand’s Magic Vs foldable smartphone. The new line-up consists of three models: the standard and Pro variants, and the budget-friendly SE model. All of which come with curved displays with camera cutouts, 5G support, and a triple camera setup housed within a vertical island (stylised with a silver “8” or infinity symbol on the vanilla and Pro models of the series).
To start things off, we have the standard version of the HONOR 80. This model features a 6.67-inch OLED screen with 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Under its hood is a Snapdragon 782G chipset, up to 12 GB RAM, and up to 512 GB of internal storage. Additionally, it has a 4,800 mAh battery with 66 W fast charging via USB-C, an in-display fingerprint scanner, as well as Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi and NFC support.
Found on the back of the phone is a triple camera setup that consists of a 160 MP primary, an 8 MP ultra-wide, and a 2 MP macro sensor. Meanwhile, housed within the cutout on its display is a 32 MP selfie camera.
Next up is the HONOR 80 Pro, which sports a slightly larger 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a pill-shaped cutout, 1224 x 2700 pixel resolution, and 120 Hz refresh rate. Internally, the phone is equipped with a flagship-class Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, along with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. Besides that, it also has a 4,800 mAh battery with 66 W fast charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, as well as support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC.
As for imaging, the Pro’s triple camera setup is made up of the same 160 MP primary as the vanilla model, a 50 MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP depth sensor. Situated within the pill-shaped camera cutout on its display, on the other hand, is a 50 MP ultra-wide and a 2 MP depth sensor.
Lastly, we have the budget-friendly HONOR 80 SE. This variant sports a 6.67-inch OLED screen with 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Its internal hardware consists of a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset, up to 12 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 256 GB. In addition, it also comes with a 4,600 mAh battery with 66 W fast charging support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC support.
As expected, the SE’s imaging system packs a more lightweight punch than its siblings. More specifically, it is equipped with a 64 MP primary camera, along with a 5 MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor. Meanwhile, found in front is a 32 MP selfie camera that is housed within its display’s punch-hole cutout.
The HONOR 80 series is slated to hit store shelves in China on 9 December 2022. The vanilla, Pro, and SE models will retail at a starting price of CNY 2,699 (~RM 1,724), CNY 3,499 (~RM 2,236), and CNY 2,399 (~RM 1,533) respectively. The company has yet to confirm the line-up’s potential international availability.
