Alongside the new Pixel 6a, Google has officially debuted the Pixel Buds Pro, the first Pixel Buds wireless earphones with active noise cancellation and a transparency mode. The premium earbuds are fitted with a custom six-core audio chip and features 11mm speaker drivers, slightly smaller than the 12mm drivers on the Pixel Buds A-Series.

The earbuds have a feature called “Silent Seal”, which Google claims can adapt to your ear to maximise how much noise is cancelled out. They also sport built-in sensors that apparently measure the pressure in your ear canal to make sure your experience stays comfortable even after wearing the Pixel Buds Pro for a long period, though the company didn’t elaborate on how exactly it achieves this.

There is also support for multipoint Bluetooth connectivity so the Pixel Buds Pro can automatically switch between your Android smartphone, laptop, TV, tablet, and even your iPhone. Of course, as a Google product, it has Google Assistant built in with the ability for real-time translation in 40 languages.

As for the battery life, Google claims that you can use them for up to 11 hours on a single charge without ANC and seven hours with the feature enabled. Using the case, which supports wireless charging, gives you up to 31 hours of total use without ANC and 20 hours with it turned on.

Google says that it will also push an update later in the year which will add support for spatial audio, which will be compatible with Pixel phones.  Additionally, the earbuds themselves are rated for IPX4 water resistance while the case is IPX2 water resistant.

The Pixel Buds Pro come in Coral, Lemongrass, Fog, and Charcoal, all with a matte finish. Pre-orders start on 21 July for US$199 (~RM873), but as with most Google hardware products, it won’t be coming to Malaysia anytime soon.
