Dead Space Remake Pre-Orders On Steam Includes Dead Space 2 From 2011

Dead Space remake trailer

As was previously announced, the remake of the original Dead Space will be released on 27 January 2023, or 28 January once taking time zones into account. You can already order it on Steam and PlayStation, but beyond a lot less on the former, there’s now another reason to get it on said platform, especially if you believe in pre-orders. This is because Electronic Arts is also throwing in Dead Space 2 as a bonus if you buy the game before its release.

In the event that you’ve already placed your pre-order for the Dead Space remake before this, worry not. According to the game’s Steam page, you’ll still be getting your free copy of Dead Space 2. No need to go out of your way to cancel your pre-order and place it again, just in case you were wondering.

Originally released in 2011, Dead Space 2 was came out three years after the first. Being a direct sequel, it makes some degree of sense that EA would bundle it up with the remake of the first game. This will allow those who pre-order the Dead Space remake to immediately jump into the sequel to find out what happens next when they are done. But at the same time, going from a current generation game to one from the PS3 era is bound to induce some whiplash in the graphical and gameplay experience.

On a more subjective note, I can’t say that I’m a fan of pre-orders, regardless of what any publisher may dangle in front of me as bait. The slew of buggy or outright incomplete games in the past few years should make the reason why clear enough. But if that doesn’t deter you, you can place your pre-order for the Dead Space remake on its Steam page, linked below. The original, which is still available by the way, is helpfully labelled with its 2008 release year so you don’t mix the two up.
