ASUS Zenfone 10 May Ditch The Compact Form Factor

ASUS Zenfone 9

The ASUS Zenfone series and more specifically, the Zenfone 9, never made it to our shores. This is despite the fact that the brand’s ROG division consistently pushes and pours in the marketing ringgit for its self-named ROG Phones here. Fast forward to today, news about a Zenfone 10 has already started emerging.

The rumour mill for the Zenfone 10 began churning with a report on the India-based site, Pricebaba, which says it had received a tip-off on the phone’s specifications through one of its sources. Supposedly, the 10th generation Zenfone will be fitted with a bigger 6.3-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, indicating that it will not be using a compact form factor. For context, the Zenfone 9 launched with a 5.9-inch AMOLED display, making it one of the more compact devices of its year. By comparison, the new alleged screen size would effectively make it bigger than Samsung’s Galaxy S23.

Moving on, the Pricebaba source also spoke of other details regarding the Zenfone 10. Specifically, they mentioned that the phone could possibly be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2, 16GB of RAM, and internal storage capacities of either 256GB or 512GB. As for its main camera module, the phone could get a 200MP main sensor, which would make it the second device to utilise such a sensor, after the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Other specifications of the Zenfone 10 include a 5000mAh battery that’s more or less becoming a standard in phones nowadays, but the phone could set itself apart with 67W fast charging, even if that isn’t the quickest charging rate that the world of smartphones has seen. Lastly, the phone is expected to run Android 13 out of the box and have an IP rating of IP68.

As for when ASUS intends to launch the Zenfone 10, that little detail is unsurprisingly still up in the air. However, the source has indicated that the Taiwanese brand could be looking at the fourth quarter of this year to debut its next flagship. Further, the phone could be featured in three colour options.
