AMD Announces New Radeon RX 6000S And RX 6000M Series GPUs For Laptops

Earlier today during its CES 2022 press announcement, AMD officially introduced a brand new series of Radeon Mobile graphics, along with several new additions to its current Radeon RX 6000M series mobile GPU lineup. That new lineup, by the way, is known as the Radeon RX 6000S series.

In contrast to its RX 6000M mobile series, the RX 6000S series is designed with both power efficiency and performance-per-watt consumption, and is aimed at pushing high performance within laptops that are approximately 20% thinner, lighter, and slimmer than the average gaming laptop. For that matter, the new lineup will comprise three new Radeon mobile GPUs: the RX 6800S, RX 6700S, and RX 6600S.

Moreover, these mobile graphics options will also be offered as options through the AMD Advantage Edition program that oversees the creation and distribution of gaming laptops that are fully-driven by AMD-based hardware.

Moving on, the latest additions to the RX 6000M lineup are also worthy of mention too and with good reason. Compared to the current lineup, the latest RX 6000M graphics are based on a new 6nm die lithography that, in turn, are able to crank up the performance while only consuming as much as 35W.

Like the RX 6000S series, the new additions to the RX 6000M series comes in a set of three. First on the list is the RX 6850M XT, which is said to be approximately 7% faster than the current RX 6800M: both the RX 6650M and RX 6650M XT that are up to 20% faster than the current RX 6600M; and finally, the new RX 6300M and RX 6500M, both of which AMD says is 200% faster than the NVIDIA GeForce MX450.

AMD says that the new Radeon RX 6000S and RX 6000M series GPUs will be available in partner laptops scheduled for February, but it did mention that both ASUS’ upcoming ROG Zephyrus G14 refresh and Dell’s Alienware M15 R5 would be willing participants as AMD Advantage laptops. In other words, we could see these GPUs make their appearance in said laptops.
